Georgia Peanut Tour attendees visited Vienna, Ga., home of the 80,000-Square-Foot Advanced Tralier’s Fabrication Shop. Tour members had the opportunity to tour the Advanced Trailer’s facility and learn about their new and upcoming technology that is sweeping peanut farmers’ off their feet. This West Texas invention converts heavy-duty railroad trailers into state-of-the-art drying units, capable of handling more peanuts than the traditional drying wagon, saving farmers’ time and money. Advanced trailers has been in business since 1995 and built its first fully-converted trailer for drying peanuts in 2002. While this latest revolution to roll through the peanut industry may have begun in the heart of West Texas’ peanut fields, today its epicenter is located in Dooly County, Ga. GA Peanut Tour visits Advanced Trailers
September 18, 2008 by joycarter
What a great turnout for the 2008 Peanut Tour. I personally was not able to attend this year due to prior commitments in Texas. But from the moment they arrived at the plant we could tell this was truly a special day. We estimate that there was over 100 people who toured the “Peanut Trailer” plant in Vienna. We don’t just welcome visits we encourage people to stop in and say hi.
Just make sure you don’t plan a stop on Fridays due to our four day work week that gives our employees a year round three day weekend. Over three years ago we experimented with this revolutionary concept of working a bit longer four days of the week and having an extra day off every week. Our employees love it and we are so fortunate to have such a hardworking and efficient team that makes it all work.
We are so pleased with the SE operation and the decision to open the plant in Vienna. The peanut industry has continued to be a primary source of support and encouragement. We are pleased that the drying trailers have now expanded into additional markets outside of peanuts. We currently have trailers in California drying Almonds, in Kansas drying grass seed, in Georgia drying freshly harvested hay and we are currently testing the trailers use for drying products used in Biomass and Bio fuels. We even have a trailer in West Texas exploring the ability to dry cow manure for methane gas production.
It continues to be an exciting journey and it all began with peanuts. I guess you can say we are still “Working for Peanuts”
